3 Things Every Good Moving Company Should Have

When searching for local movers, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and swamped down by the endless number of residential movers in your area. Though there are countless moving companies to choose from, you shouldn’t consider every one of them. Matchup Movers can help you find your perfect moving match. Here are three things that every good moving company should have:

Licenses & Insurance

This should be the first and most crucial trait of any moving or storage company worth your time. If the company doesn’t tick this box, move on. Only consider local movers who are legally equipped to handle your property.

To do this, visit the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website. It has all the information you need to assess the qualifications of a moving company. Movers must be registered with the US Department of Transportation, which provides them with a valid DOT number. Ensure that your company of choice has this number before considering it any further.

Successful Past

To ensure your own company satisfaction, do some research into the residential mover’s past. Ask around to see if anyone you know has any experience with the company, or go online and scroll through recent reviews for the moving or storage company.

Keep in mind that you should weigh the reviews wisely. Some are intentionally petty and negative, while others are over-the-top ecstatic. Look at all the reviews, 1-star to 5-star, spending most of your time in the middle range. You may be able to find a more realistic account of the moving company there.

Transparent Pricing

Oftentimes, moving companies will hide fees for special services you didn’t even know you were receiving. Check online to see if the company offers special packages that cost more than the standard ones. You can go even further and give the company a call, too. Ask questions about their pricing and listen closely to make sure that their policies are clear and straightforward.

These three things aren’t the only traits to consider when picking a moving company, but they should be among the first you think of. Once a company passes these three tests, they can move on to the next round of questioning. If you need more help, Matchup Movers can assist you in determining the perfect moving company for you.
